Hey guys, fellow optimization enthusiasts! As a lecturer in System Modeling and a passionate blogger, I’m lucky enough to have received a scholarship from LPDP to study at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. There, I’ve learned so much about using Python and Pyomo to solve various business and public policy problems. Using Python and Pyomo was completely new to me, as I was unfamiliar with them before starting my PhD. But I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing the incredible power of Python and Pyomo to tackle optimization challenges.
With Python’s ever-growing popularity as a programming language and the availability of powerful optimization libraries like Pyomo, it’s an exciting time to dive into the world of optimization. That’s why I’ve decided to share my knowledge and passion for this field by creating a comprehensive tutorial series on optimization using Python and Pyomo, with solvers like Gurobi for linear programming and IPOPT for non-linear programming. I want to give a big thanks to LPDP for allowing me to learn so much during my PhD journey and explore this platform.
The aim of this tutorial series is to provide you with a step-by-step guide on how to model and solve a wide variety of optimization problems using Python and Pyomo. As a lecturer, my goal is to make these tutorials accessible to both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as professionals looking to enhance their optimization skills.
In the upcoming series of articles, we’ll cover topics such as:
- Introduction to optimization and mathematical programming
- Getting started with Python and Pyomo
- Linear programming with Python and Pyomo
- Integer and mixed-integer linear programming
- Nonlinear programming with Python and Pyomo
- Multi-objective optimization
- Stochastic and robust optimization
- Advanced techniques and tips for optimization modeling
And much more! Along the way, we’ll explore real-world examples and applications, ensuring that you can put the techniques you learn into practice.
Once the tutorial series is complete, I plan to compile the articles into a reference book, making it an invaluable resource for students and professionals alike. So, if you’re ready to embark on an exciting journey to master optimization with Python and Pyomo, stay tuned for my first article, and let’s unlock the power of optimization together!
Happy optimizing!
